Those classes are for intermediate to experienced artists. I do not recommend them for beginners, so before enrolling, make sure you meet the following criteria:

  • ZBrush: Strong knowledge of all fundamentals

  • Maya: some familiarity with the software's basics and interface

  • Good understading of the English language

    • Lesson 2 - Sculpting progress, adjusting the head scale, eye scale, focus on secondary forms

    • Lesson 3 - Progress on sculpting the ears and lips, roughly matching the lighting from reference, tricks about baking HD geometry

    • Lesson 4 - Mesh and UDIMs planning, tips for UVs, sketch reprojection into new topology with ZWrap, Introduction to HD geometry

    Week 2

    • Lesson 5 - Pores constrution, pores arrays, sculpting with pores stamps, exporting displacement maps, rendering disp maps in Maya

    • Lesson 6 - Directional micro wrinkles, blending areas, more brushes explored, tips on sculpting across multiple resolutions, displacement render test

    • Lesson 7 - sculpting further wrinkles and micro-wrinkles, eyebags and eyelids detail and blending with pores, possible issues to avoid, industry and future talk

    • Lesson 8 - Sculpting the lips, nose details, refining the pores placement, more transition areas, more work on the secondary forms, art talk, job interview talk, pandemic talk

    • Lesson 9 - Skin shader nodes in detail, micro displacement, specular, and roughness maps, render tests demonstrating the skin shader being built

    • Lesson 10 - Polypainting the skin manually then rendering it to test

    • Lesson 11 - Eyes explored: model, sculpting, scale, distance, shaders, textures, rendering

    • Lesson 12 - Introduction to XGen, grooming eyebrows and eyelashes

    • Lesson 13 - Grooming the mustache, vellus and nose hair with XGen, more sculpting techniques, render tests

    • Lesson 14 - Grooming the main hair with XGen Interactive + Guides, hairline blend, composition tips, posing in ZBrush and Maya, post processing quick demo using Alien Skin Xposure

    • Lesson 15 - Stubble in Xgen and Zbrush, teeth shaders, caruncles in detail, XGen to Zbrush for sculpting eyelash roots, forehead wrinkles

    • Lesson 16 - Final meeting: camera, render and light settings, clothes patterns and fuzz explored, main keys to realism, final thoughts
